Implementation & Challenges: National Specification for Eating Disorders in Scotland Workshop

In collaboration with the National Eating Disorders Network, this virtual workshop will examine how the National Specification for the Care and Treatment of Eating Disorders can be implemented across Scotland.

Why This Topic?
Developed in response to the National Review of Eating Disorder Services, the Specification sets out a comprehensive plan to improve and standardise care across the country.

The Specification is an ambitious plan for eating disorder services for the next 5 to 10 years, supporting the delivery of person-centred, safe, and effective care, and improving national consistency, ensuring that people with eating disorders and those who support them will receive high quality care regardless of where they are.

This workshop will address practical ways to work towards the outcomes in the Specification, and support services to assess where they are in this process and what obstacles they face. This includes self-referral, meaningful inclusion of patients in service delivery and feedback, measuring and addressing health inequalities, and routine outcome measurements.

Session Format

We will hear from advisors to the national network, people with lived experience of an eating disorder, and share examples of good practice that services can learn from. It will be relevant to professionals working in eating disorders in Scotland and others interested in developments in eating disorder services.

Held via Zoom, the workshop will feature a series of short presentations and guided discussions—grounded in both clinical expertise and lived experience—offering valuable insights for clinicians, academics, carers, and family members.
