There is a limited amount of evidence on supporting children and young people who have an eating disorder and type 1 diabetes. In this session we will highlight the challenges faced in supporting this patient group and facilitate a conversation that enables us to learn from each other as we move forwards, with the ultimate goal of ensuring that children and young people with T1DE receive the right support at the right time.
We will do this by presenting the results of the recent national network survey on T1DE across the paediatric diabetes networks and present the new national MEED (Managing Emergencies in Eating Disorders) guidance on T1DE.
The session will also facilitate a discussion with clinicians across the UK about their experiences of T1DE and seek to create a national network of paediatric diabetes clinicians.
