Pregnancy and Eating Disorders Workshop
Join Dr Abigail Easter and Dr Amanda Bye, bringing together other expert speakers, including lived experiences, clinicians and researchers for a CPD-accredited workshop exploring the relationship between pregnancy and eating disorders.
This workshop will cover pre-conception, pregnancy and the postnatal period. It will examine the importance of identifying eating disorders during and following pregnancy, particularly as the physical and hormonal changes that occur during this time may obscure common warning signs.
Topics will include family planning, with discussion around how these stages can intersect with eating disorder risk and recovery. It will also highlight the importance of early identification, compassionate and non-judgmental care, and effective collaboration between general practice, maternity and mental health services.
The workshop aims to:
Deepen understanding of eating disorders in the context of pregnancy and early parenthood, and to provide attendees with the knowledge and practical insights needed to better support individuals during these important life stages. We will share learnings and resources to apply into practice, alongside providing the opportunity for questions.
