Men and Eating Disorders Workshop Programme

Here’s what we’ve got planned:

We’ll be diving into a topic that’s often overlooked: male eating disorders. Together, we’ll explore how different social environments, from schools and gyms to workplaces and families, can shape and reinforce body ideals.

We’ll look at how early warning signs in boys and men are often misread as discipline or strength, rather than indicators of illness. The session will also unpack the stigma and gendered expectations that stop men from recognising their symptoms or seeking help.

Beyond that, we’ll discuss structural barriers, including race, gender, sexuality, and economic pressures, that affect access to care, and we’ll challenge the dominant narratives about who is seen as needing or deserving of treatment.

Please note: details may be subject to change.
